Crypto Exchange Fees, Compared at the Regular Tier

What WOO X, Binance, Bitfinex and Bitkub charge to trade spot and futures, maker and taker, as each one publishes it for an account with no volume discount. Every rate is dated, because exchanges change their schedules. Vectixs earns nothing from any of them.

Four things that decide what you actually pay

A headline rate is only part of the cost. These are the parts of a schedule that change the number on your trade.

Maker or taker

// ORDER TYPE

A limit order that rests on the book and is filled later is a maker order. An order that fills at once against the book, such as a market order, is a taker order. WOO X charges makers nothing and takers 0.06% on spot.

MAKER OR TAKER

Spot or futures

// MARKET

Futures usually cost less per trade than spot on the same exchange. On Binance, a regular account pays 0.10% to take on spot and 0.05% to take on USDT-margined futures.

SPOT OR FUTURES

Token discounts

// DISCOUNTS

Paying Binance fees in BNB takes 25% off spot and 10% off USDT-margined futures. WOO X lowers fees for large WOO holdings. Each discount needs the token, which carries its own price risk.

BNB OR WOO

Zero commission is not zero cost

// SPREAD

Bitfinex charges no commission at all, but a market order still crosses the spread and walks through the order book. On a large order or a thin pair, that can cost more than a fee would.

0% FEE SPREAD STILL APPLIES

Seeing what fees do to a strategy

A fee that looks small adds up over a bot's many trades. Paper money shows by how much.

1

Work out the break-even

A buy and a sell each pay the fee, so a round trip costs twice the rate. On Bitkub that is 0.50%, so a grid level spaced closer than that loses money even when it fills.

2

Run it on paper at that exchange's rate

Vectixs paper trading charges each exchange's regular rate on every paper fill, so a backtest or a paper bot shows the fees it would have paid. You never connect an exchange account.

3

Compare the same bot across exchanges

Switch the paper account between WOO X, Binance, Bitfinex and Bitkub prices and run the same settings. The difference in fees paid is printed in the results.

Small rates, many trades

A person who trades twice a month barely notices a 0.10% fee. A bot that trades every few hours pays it hundreds of times. These examples use each exchange's regular taker rate.

A grid bot's break-even spacing

Each grid level buys and later sells, so every completed cycle pays the fee twice. The gap between two levels has to be wider than that, or a filled cycle loses money.

On a Bitkub THB pair, at 0.25% each way, a cycle costs 0.50%, so levels closer than about 0.5% apart cannot make anything. On Binance the floor is about 0.20%, on WOO X 0.12% if both sides take, and on Bitfinex it is set by the spread alone.

A DCA plan over a year

A plan that buys 100 USDT every week places 52 orders a year. At Binance's regular 0.10%, those buys cost 5.20 USDT in fees. At Bitkub's 0.25% they cost 13.00. Selling the position later pays the fee once more, on whatever it is worth by then.

Placing the buys as limit orders that rest on the book changes the picture on an exchange that charges makers less. On WOO X, a maker order pays nothing.

Futures: fees, funding and the spread

A futures position pays the trading fee on its full position value, not on the margin behind it. At 10x, 100 USDT of margin opens 1,000 USDT of position, and a 0.05% taker fee on Binance costs 0.50 USDT each way, which is 0.5% of the margin.

Holding the position adds funding at each settlement, which the funding rate calculator works out. On Bitfinex the commission is zero, so the spread and funding are the whole cost of trading.

How Vectixs paper trading charges fees

Every paper spot fill pays the regular rate of the exchange whose prices the account is using, so a paper bot on Bitkub prices pays Bitkub's fee. Backtest results show the total fees paid beside the other figures.

Paper futures follow Bitfinex perpetuals: no commission, but every market order pays the spread plus its walk through Bitfinex's live order book. No real order is ever placed on any exchange.

Regular-tier trading fees, maker / taker

As each exchange publishes them for an account with no volume tier or token discount.

Exchange Spot Futures
WOO X 0% / 0.06% 0% / 0.03%
Binance 0.10% / 0.10% 0.02% / 0.05% (USDT-margined)
Binance, paying in BNB 0.075% / 0.075% 0.018% / 0.045%
Bitfinex 0% / 0% 0% / 0%
Bitkub 0.25% / 0.25% No futures market
Bitkub, USDT pairs (promotion) 0.10% / 0.10% No futures market

The four exchanges Vectixs reads prices from

Vectixs paper trading uses live public prices from WOO X, Binance, Bitfinex and Bitkub, and paper futures follow Bitfinex's USDT perpetuals. That is the only reason these four are on this page.

Vectixs has no partnership with any of them and earns nothing if you open an account. There are no referral links here, and none are planned.

Crypto exchange fees FAQ

01 // LOWEST Which exchange has the lowest trading fees?

At the regular tier, as each exchange published its rates when this page was written, Bitfinex charges 0% on spot and futures, maker and taker. WOO X charges makers nothing. A market order still pays the spread on every exchange, so check the order book as well as the fee.

02 // MAKER TAKER What is the difference between maker and taker fees?

A maker order adds a resting limit order to the book and is filled later. A taker order fills immediately against an order already there. Exchanges often charge takers more, because makers supply the liquidity takers use.

03 // ROUND TRIP How much does a round trip cost?

Twice the fee, because the buy and the sell are each charged. A 1,000 USDT spot round trip paid as taker both ways costs 0.00 on Bitfinex, 1.20 on WOO X, 2.00 on Binance and the equivalent of 5.00 on a Bitkub THB pair, at the regular tier.

04 // CHANGES Do these fees change?

Yes. Exchanges change their schedules, run promotions, and lower rates for higher volume tiers and token holders. Each rate on this page is dated. Check the exchange's own fee page before relying on one.

05 // VECTIXS Does Vectixs charge a fee or earn from these exchanges?

No. Vectixs is free paper trading. It charges nothing, takes no referral commission from any exchange, and places no real orders. Paper fills simulate each exchange's regular rate so results include realistic costs.

06 // VIP TIERS What does it take to reach a lower fee tier?

On Binance, the first VIP spot tier needs at least 1,000,000 USD of trading volume over 30 days and at least 5 BNB. On WOO X, the first VIP tier needs 1,000,000 WOO held, or 10,000,000 USDT of 30-day spot or futures volume. Most individual traders stay on the regular tier.

07 // FUTURES CHEAPER Are futures fees lower than spot fees?

Each exchange sets its own schedule, and on both WOO X and Binance the futures rates are lower. A futures fee is charged on the full position value, not the margin, so on a leveraged position it still takes a larger share of the money you put up.

08 // PAPER RATE Can I change the fee rate on a Vectixs paper account?

Yes. The paper account uses each exchange's regular rate by default, and the rate can be adjusted, for example to match a VIP tier you already have.
